Amie came to yoga in 1999, and was hooked immediately. Since that time and the cultivation of many years of a dedicated practice and sincere study, she regards the system of yoga and meditation as some of the best technology available to improve the health of the body, stability and clarity of the mind, and open the pathways to the supreme treasure in every heart. Amie has been serving the Madison area as a passionate yoga and meditation teacher since 2004. She is a 500 hour level teacher with a dedicated practice and passion for yoga since 2000. She received her first teaching certifications in 2003 and 2004 through the Integral Yoga Institute and has been teaching ever since. In 2007 she met her teacher, modern day master Yogarupa Rod Stryker, and has been studying closely the practice of ParaYoga, an approach to yoga that preserves the wisdom and potency of the yoga tradition while remaining relevant to the modern day practitioner. She is currently a 500hr level teacher and received her most recent ParaYoga certification in the spring of 2014.
Amie firmly believes we all have the capacity to live a life that is meaningful, authentic, and inspired. Yoga is a system that helps us uncover our unique nature and casts light into where we’re not seeing clearly- and what patterns are holding us back, revealing a tapestry of talents, insights, and challenges that usher us to be skillful in our lives. As we align our lives with these threads, we become more effective in our efforts, less bogged down in our challenges, and embody our potential.
Aside from yoga, Amie spends time raising her two daughters with her gem of a husband. Other interests include photography, sustainable living, and spending as much free time in, around, or on top of water – particularly the Great Lakes.
